Melissa (Cann) Hendrix
Melissa Dawn Hendrix, age 28, of Niceville, Fl passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006 after a courageous battle against cancer. Melissa was born August 11, 1977 at Beale AFB, CA, and lived here for the past 16 years. Melissa graduated from Niceville High School in 1995 and then proceeded to achieve her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy Degree from Florida A & M University in 1999. She found great joy in her work as a physical therapist healing and ministering to others. It was doing the work she loved that she came to meet the love of her life. Melissa and Jason were married November 2002. She was a member of the Rocky Bayou Baptist Church where she played clarinet in the church orchestra. She also enjoyed playing softball and fellowship at bible study. Melissa was called by God to write a book about her battle with cancer. God’s promises of encouragement gave her strength. “It’s All for Him” is Melissa’s gift to us to encourage, inspire, and strengthen our faith. She wanted nothing more than to bring others to the Lord. Melissa dedicated all proceeds from the book to the Heart of the Bride to help support orphans around the world. Melissa was preceded in death by her father Donald L. Cann, Jr. and is survived by her husband Jason Hendrix, her mother Pamela June Cann, sister Sheryl Cann, niece Kenzie Cann, aunts and uncles Brenda and Scott Tufte, Kurt and Cassie Holcomb, Debbie Holcomb, Joyce and Jim Bixby, her in-laws Rebekah Miller and Elliott (Buck) Allen, Joanne and William Waller, grandparents Donald Cann, Sr., Robert and Lodema Holcomb, Loretta Mundell, and her beloved “boys” Outlaw and Ranger. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Rocky Bayou Baptist Church in Niceville, Friday, April 21, 2006. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., at Rocky Bayou Baptist Church, Saturday, April 22, 2006- Niceville with Pastor Dale Julio officiating. Graveside interment services will follow at Heritage Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to “Heart of the Bride Ministries” at Rocky Bayou Baptist Church. Heritage Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery Niceville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
